The export of Ukrainian wheat in September became a record

The September indicator of wheat export from Ukraine became a record this year.

In September, 1.783 million tons of wheat were shipped from Ukraine. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Taras Kachka.

The largest importers of Ukrainian wheat were Turkey (385 thousand tons), Romania (227 thousand tons), Spain (379 thousand tons), Bangladesh (161 thousand tons) and Italy (106 thousand tons).

However, this year’s September export figure is lower than last year’s, when Ukraine shipped 4.363 million tons of wheat in September. The reason for this is russia.

Also, in September, for the first time since the beginning of the war, Ukraine exported 2.149 million tons of corn. It is also interesting that this indicator is 13 times higher than the volume of September last year, when Ukraine exported only 157,000 tons of corn.

The change in indicators is related to the consequences of the war and the naval blockade by russia. Corn harvested last year was not exported on time, as a result of which Ukraine now exports it late.

The geography of corn exports has also changed: now it is mostly European and Mediterranean countries.

“Therefore, if russia really cares about the poorest countries, it should help restore trade in the Black Sea, and not blackmail it by reducing inspections.

After all, even a few months of blockade created problems for years,” noted Taras Kachka.
