The FBI searched Medvedchuk’s yacht in Croatia
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted a search on the yacht of oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk moored in Croatia.
The 92-meter Royal Romance yacht is moored in the city of Trogir on the Adriatic Sea. The search was conducted based on a warrant issued on November 15 by the US Department of Justice.
Dinko Mešin, judge and spokesman for the District Court of the Croatian city of Split, confirmed the information to Jutarnji List. He declined to comment on other details because the entire procedure is classified.
Viktor Medvedchuk, an oligarch and People’s Deputy from the Opposition Platform party, was extradited by the russians in September along with 55 russian military personnel, in exchange for more than 200 Ukrainian defenders and 10 foreigners who fought on the side of the Armed Forces.
Earlier, Medvedchuk was charged with part 1 of article 111 (treason), part 1 of article 258-3 (supporting a terrorist organization) and part 1 of article 438 (looting national values) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The oligarch appears in criminal cases related to oil and gas production in the Black Sea, as well as facilitating the activities of a terrorist organization through the supply of coal from the occupied territories of eastern Ukraine.
