The first shipment of russian fertilizers left the Netherlands for Africa

After the extension of the “grain agreement” regarding the export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea ports, the export of russian fertilizers began to be unblocked.

The first batch of russian fertilizers has already left the port of Ternesen in the Netherlands on the vessel MV Greenwich to Malawi via Mozambique, said the official representative of the UN Secretary General Stephane Dujarric.

“The UN welcomes the free transfer of fertilizers from russian producers, which are stored in European ports and warehouses, which will serve to alleviate humanitarian needs and prevent catastrophic crop loss in Africa, where the sowing campaign is currently underway,” Dujarrica added, “Ukrainska Pravda” writes.

According to him, this will be the first of a series of deliveries of fertilizers destined for a number of other countries on the African continent in the coming months. The UN also explained that this initiative to provide fertilizers is part of the agreements signed in Istanbul on July 22 as part of the Grain Agreement.

Previously, USM told how the UN chartered a vessel to transport russian fertilizers to African countries.
