The fishing industry of Ukraine suffered $47 million in losses due to the war
As a result of the military aggression of russian federation, the Ukrainian fishing industry suffered $47 million in losses.
As of November 1, the fishing industry of Ukraine suffered $47 million in losses as a result of russia’s aggression. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaly Holovnia during the Ukrinform press conference.
“According to the latest report, which was worked on by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the State Agency for Land Reclamation and Fisheries of Ukraine, together with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the numbers are as follows. We have losses of 21.6 million dollars in aquaculture, and 25.4 million dollars in industrial fishing. These are preliminary data for November 1, 2022,” the deputy minister said.
These numbers are not final. After the de-occupation of the entire territory of Ukraine, the losses will increase many times, said Holovnya.
We will remind you that last year, in connection with the full-scale aggression of russian federation, the industrial catch in the reservoirs of Ukraine fell by 70% , compared to 2021.
One of the factors of the sharp decline is the ban on commercial fishing in certain areas of water bodies by border guards, Regional Military Administrations and units of the Armed Forces. In particular, the navigation of fishing vessels and, accordingly, the fishing of aquatic biological resources are prohibited on a large territory of Ukraine.
