“The grain agreement should be extended to Mykolayiv port”, — Kyslytsia

The Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN explained why Mykolaiv Port should be included in the Black Sea Initiative.

Today, March 18, the “Grain Agreement” expires. Ukraine calls to extend the Initiative for at least 120 days. The coverage should also be extended to terminals in the Mykolaiv region, said Serhiy Kyslytsia, Ukraine’s ambassador to the UN.

Due to russian sabotage of the Black Sea Initiative, food exports through the “grain corridor” do not exceed 3.4 million tons per month. After unlocking the port terminals of the Mykolaiv region, Ukraine will be able to give the world more than 6 million tons of agricultural products per month.

Since the beginning of the Black Sea Initiative, 814 vessels have already exported 24.4 million tons of Ukrainian grain to Asia, Europe and Africa. The volume of exports would be much higher if it were not for Russia’s policy of delaying ship inspections. At present, 86 ships that are being loaded in the ports of Ukraine are still waiting for inspection in the territorial waters of Turkey, noted Serhiy Kyslytsia.
