The grain deals could become the subject of blackmail at the G20 summit

Putin is likely to use the possible extension of the grain deals as a way to gain leverage at the G20 summit.

The kremlin has not yet confirmed that putin will attend the G20 summit in Indonesia on November 15. However, if he does, it will be the first global summit that the head of russian federation will attend together with major Western leaders, including US President Joe Biden, since the start of the war on February 24.

“The grain deal will be the central theme of this G20 summit and everyone will be trying to convince putin to extend it. This will become a trump card in the hands of the russians, but in fact the extension of the grain agreement does not cost them anything,” an anonymous European diplomat told Reuters.

The UN-brokered grain agreement is crucial for the global food market, as it allows grain to be exported from Ukraine, one of the largest grain exporters in the world.

In general, since the conclusion of the agreement, Ukrainian ports have sent 9 million tons of agricultural products for export. This was announced by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Previously, USM wrote that russia was delaying the work of the “grain corridor”.
