The High Anti-Corruption Court took the ex-deputy minister of infrastructure into custody


The High Anti-Corruption Court took into custody the former Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Vasyl Lozynskyi.

On June 19, the Investigating Judge of the National Security Agency partially satisfied the request of NABU detectives and changed the preventive measure against the ex-deputy minister of infrastructure, who is suspected of asking for and receiving $400,000 in illegal benefits, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office  reported .

The court considered the arguments presented by the prosecutor of the SAP and decided to change the suspect’s preventive measure to detention with the alternative of paying UAH 5 million bail.

The preventive measure is valid until August 17.

In the event of bail, the suspect will be charged with the following duties:

• to appear at every request to the investigator (detective), prosecutor and court;

• not to leave the city of Lviv without permission;

• notify about a change in your place of residence and place of work;

• refrain from communicating with witnesses in the case;

• hand over to the appropriate bodies of the State Migration Service all your passports of a citizen of Ukraine for travel abroad, other documents granting the right to leave Ukraine and enter Ukraine;

• wear an electronic means of control.

We will remind, on January 21, the mass media reported that Vasyl Lozynskyi was detained by NABU employees in connection with the embezzlement of budget funds. He is accused of receiving a bribe in the amount of $400,000 for the purchase of generators. The purchase amount was UAH 1.8 billion. The criminal proceedings have been under investigation since last September.

On January 22, NABU confirmed the detention of Lozynskyi. Detectives detained him while receiving a bribe in the amount of $400,000. After that, the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine promised to release Lozynskyi and noted that they provide full assistance to the investigation.

Later, the Higher Anti-Corruption Court sent Vasyl Lozynskyi under 24-hour house arrest.

Vasyl Lozynskyi (36 years old) is a Ukrainian civil servant. From February 26, 2020, he is the 1st Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development. From November 4, 2022 — Acting Minister of Community and Territorial Development (after the resignation of Oleksiy Chernyshov). From December 9, 2022, he will be the 1st Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure, which was formed the day before by merging the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Regions.
