In the Red Sea, the Yemeni Houthis attacked a ship carrying Russian oil to China.

The oil tanker Wind was attacked 98 miles south of Al Hudeidah, Yemen, MarineTraffic reported.

The ship’s captain confirmed that an unknown object crashed into the ship and that it sustained minor damage. However, the crew and vessel were safe and continued to the next port call.

On May 12-13, the vessel transited the Suez Canal and the last AIS signal was received when it was in the middle of the Red Sea. The AIS signal indicated that the vessel was heading for China.

The attack on Wind damaged the power plant and steering. However, the crew managed to fix the engine and steering and continued to move.

Wind is a 105,387 dwt oil tanker registered in Panama. He transported Russian goods to China.

According to Ambrey, the vessel was loading oil at the Shekharis terminal in the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk and was bound for China.
