The invaders’ gas platform caught fire after a battle in the Black Sea

A fire was detected on one of the platforms used by the occupiers for military purposes.

A gas production platform used by Russian troops for military purposes is burning in the Black Sea near the temporarily occupied Crimea. This is reported by “Crimean Wind”.

A battle took place at sea at night, but it is currently unknown what forces and means were involved in the clash. The first data on the fire appeared on satellite images at 02:22. A fire was recorded on a platform in Karkinitskaya Bay – at coordinates 45.67001, 31.66026. This is the self-elevating drilling rig “Petro Godovanets”.

As of now, none of the parties has officially confirmed its participation in the hostilities that night. The structures of the Defense Forces of Ukraine have also not made public statements regarding this operation.

The Russian army actively uses gas production platforms in the Black Sea as elements of military infrastructure – to accommodate personnel, reconnaissance equipment, radars, drone repeaters and surveillance equipment.

Recall that the previous attack on the drilling rigs captured by the Russians took place on May 19. Then, specialists from the 13th Main Directorate of the Military Counterintelligence Department of the SBU destroyed the “Neva” radar station, warehouses and a residential block, using sea and air drones.
