The investigation of what exactly the tanker was transporting from the Russian Federation to the USA is ongoing
According to the documents, there could have been mineral fertilizers on board the tanker Avenca, which was on a direct flight from the port of Novorossiysk to the naval base of the US Navy.
The head of the monitoring group of the Institute of Black Sea Strategic Studies, Andrii Klymenko. published an update on the direct flight of the Avenca tanker from Novorossiysk to Norfolk (USA).
According to him, several leading Ukrainian maritime business specialists, as well as sources with contacts in the USA, joined in clarifying all possible details of the direct flight of the Avenca tanker from Novorossiysk to Norfolk (USA) — namely, clarifying the nature of the cargo.
“As a result, information appeared that according to the documents, there could be a solution of UAN (urea-ammonia mixture), i.e. mineral fertilizer, which is not formally subject to sanctions, on board the tanker. We continue the work on cargo clarification. Moreover, the Novorossiysk port was never specialized in the export of liquid fertilizers by tankers (this was the specialization of the Baltic ports). They are only planning to build such a terminal in Novorossiysk,” emphasizes Andriy Klymenko.
He also noted that for the Russian side to forge something in the contracts and any other documents accompanying the cargo is not a problem at all, but a common practice.
According to the expert, if the version regarding the urea-ammonia mixture is confirmed, this does not remove moral and ethical issues.
“Why, at the end of the second year of the Great War, does American business go into such “business” with the Russian Federation? How and in what currency is it calculated from the Russian Federation? Does he understand where these dollars are going?” writes Andriy Klymenko.
We will remind you that initially there was information that the tanker brought Russian oil to the base of the US Navy despite the embargo.
