The Kernel fleet provides 30% of oil exports

Currently, Kernel’s fleet includes three vessels – two bulkers and one tanker, which are involved in the export of oil and bulk cargo.

Yevhen Osypov, CEO of the Kernel agricultural holding, said this in an interview with Forbes.

According to him, Kernel has been a port operator for a long time. The company has several terminals through which it exports.

“We considered it a necessary element of our chain. Over the past year, we have invested and purchased two more oil transshipment terminals. Before that, we used the services of our partners. Unfortunately, most of them were concentrated in Mykolaiv. With the loss of the port, we had to invest in new oil supply chains. We purchased terminals in Pivdenne, Chornomorsk and on the Danube River,” said Kernel’s general director.

At the same time, ships are a permanent element of the company’s development, so the company invested in the fleet.

“We have one tanker and two bulkers today. They provide, from the point of view of oil, about 30% of our exports, from the point of view of bulk cargoes, about 20% of our exports. We are studying this direction. A new team was formed, because fleet management is a somewhat different competence that the company did not have before. Of course, we see that this business is quite competitive, not as simple as it seemed at first glance,” emphasizes Yevhen Osypov.

Currently, the company’s fleet provides supplies to Romania, the countries of the Mediterranean basin, and Northern Europe. Kernel is also considering the possibility of investing in new vessels.

It will be recalled that at the beginning of March, Kernel purchased a third cargo vessel of 58,000 tons.
