The largest ship left the port “Pivdennyi”

The dry cargo ship “Captain Leonidas” under the Panamanian flag became the largest ship that passed through the Ukrainian maritime corridor.

A bulk carrier left the Port of Pivdennyi with 195.7 thousand tons of products of Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises, USPA reported.

The vessel was built in 2005 as “Azul Fortuna”, later renamed to “Captain Leonidas”. It has a length of 300 m, a width of 50 m, a carrying capacity of 203 thousand tons, which classifies it as a bulk carrier of the Newcastlemax class.

In general, three bulk carriers with the maximum amount of cargo have already passed through the Ukrainian maritime corridor:

Captain Leonidas – 195,700 tons;

George Island – 178,060 tons;

Jutta – 176,847 tons.

During the 7 months of operation of the Ukrainian corridor, 1,286 vessels exported more than 36 million tons of cargo, of which 25 million were products of Ukrainian farmers. Currently, 135 vessels are waiting to approach the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi, which are supposed to export 4 million tons of cargo.

USM previously reported that the largest bulk carrier since the beginning of the full-scale war entered the port in Odesa region.

The Ukrainian maritime corridor began to work around the clock, which contributed to the increase in transshipment volumes.
