The leader of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” was declared a suspect in the robbery of the Mariupol seaport

These are products of the Azovstal and Ilyich steel plants, which the occupiers illegally transferred to the benefit of the Russian Federation.
The head of the occupation administration of the “DPR” Denis Pushilin was informed of suspicion of the export of almost 30 thousand tons of metal worth over 700 million UAH from the Mariupol seaport. This was reported by the press service of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
In 2022, the leader of the pseudo-republic ordered the administration of the captured port to organize the export of metal products shipped by Ukrainian enterprises to buyer companies. Among the stolen goods were rolled steel plates, cast steel slabs, hot-rolled sheets and coils.
The total weight of the stolen cargo was about 30 thousand tons. Its market value exceeds 700 million UAH. At the same time, the specified products do not belong to dual-use goods and could not be used for military purposes.
The suspect’s actions were classified as violations of the laws and customs of war (Part 3 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). They also contradict the norms of the Geneva and Hague Conventions, which prohibit robbery and confiscation of private property during war.
The day before, USM reported that the invaders were clearing the channel to the Mariupol port for “pirate logistics.”
