The main carrier of Rosneft was deprived of insurance

The Indian company Gatik Ship Management, which transported russian oil, lost its P&I insurance.

Indian shipowner Gatik Ship Management has been stripped of its P&I insurance. Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, the company has been the main carrier of Rosneft. Over the past year, Gatik has assembled a fleet of 40 tankers to transport oil from the russian federation, writes Energy Intelligence.

It is reported that the insurance was withdrawn from the company against the background of the fact that the price of Rosneft exceed the limit of $60 per barrel.

Gatik is one of the numerous russian-related shipping companies that have emerged over the past year. What is interesting is the fact that the ultimate owner of Gatik is unknown. At the same time, the company does not even have a working website. The average age of Gatik vessels exceeds 15 years. Thus, the Laconia tanker, which is currently transporting 600,000 barrels of crude oil from Novorossiysk to India, was built back in 2003, Equasis analysts note.

In total, at least 8 Gatik tankers have been transporting Urals oil from russian ports to India over the past month. Other ships of the company carried out ship-to-ship operations in the Mediterranean Sea, in particular, near Greece and the Spanish exclave of  Сеута  Ceuta in North Africa.
