The main engine weighing 7.5 tons was dismantled from the UDS motor ship (video)


Dismantling of the main engine was carried out by UDS employees accompanied by ÖSWAG engineers.

A unique operation was successfully completed at the Austrian shipyard, Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company reports.

“The superstructure was removed, technological holes were made in the ship’s hull, and the main engine of the ship “Captain Antipov” weighing almost 7.5 tons was dismantled in a block. Previously, the UDS had never carried out such operations on its own,” the message reads.

Also, in the process of modernization, the UDS team is constantly learning in order to increase the share of work that can be performed in Ukraine by steamship specialists in the future.

“In this way, we will be able to optimize costs, provide work for Ukrainian personnel. We thank the representatives of ÖSWAG, who share their experience and knowledge,” emphasized the UDS.

As a reminder, in 2024, the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company plans to modernize the first five vessels at the Austrian shipyard ÖSWAG.
