The Ministry of Agriculture predicts that the harvest in 2024 will be smaller than the previous one
This year, the gross production of grain and oil crops will amount to about 74 million tons, of which about 52.4 million tons of grain and 21.7 million tons of oil crops.
This will mean a drop of about 10% compared to the 2023 harvest, which was 82 million tons, according to preliminary estimates of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
The ministry emphasized that at the beginning of last year, the total gross harvest of grain and oilseeds for 2023 was also predicted to be almost 13% lower compared to the previous period, at the level of 63.5 million tons, but the weather conditions then contributed to an increase in the harvest.
We will remind you that in 2023 gross production was about 82 million tons, of which more than 60 million tons of grain, and about 22 million tons of oil
“Therefore, the forecasts regarding gross collection indicators are preliminary in nature and will be adjusted during the year depending on circumstances, primarily weather conditions,” the ministry noted.
