The Ministry of Reconstruction plans to extend “transport visa-free” for another year

The Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine plans to extend “transport visa-free” for one year without changes.

The agency wants to extend the agreement between Ukraine and the EU on freight transportation by road for another year, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Serhiy Derkach told Interfax-Ukraine.

Currently, the agreement is valid until June 30, 2024.

According to Derkach, the ministry sent a letter to the European Commission with a request to hold a working meeting on the extension of the agreement by the end of the month, with the participation of all interested parties.

“There are countries that, we know for sure, agree to the extension of the agreement, they have no objections. There are countries from which comments on the agreement were received. The rest of the countries did not have them and agreed with the statement that this agreement contributes to the development of the economy in the European Union,” commented the deputy minister.

Poland, Slovakia and Hungary have comments on the agreement. The Baltic countries, Finland, Sweden and France support the agreement.

Previously, USM reported that the ministries of infrastructure of Ukraine and Moldova extended the Agreement on the liberalization of freight transportation between the countries until the end of 2025.
