The NATO Secretary General condemned Russia’s withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg condemned Russia’s unilateral decision to withdraw from the Grain Agreement.
“I condemn Russia’s unilateral decision to withdraw from the Black Sea Grain Initiative, despite the efforts of our ally Turkey and the UN. Russia’s illegal war against Ukraine continues to harm millions of vulnerable people around the world,” the head of the Alliance wrote on Twitter.
As reported, yesterday, July 17, the Russian Federation officially announced the suspension of participation in the Black Sea Grain Initiative. In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, said that Russia avoids clarity about its participation in the grain agreements: in some cases it says that it has stopped it, in others it has suspended it.
Kuleba said that he held a number of negotiations on this topic, in particular with the Secretary General of the UN, “about how to proceed, because the functioning of corridors, sea and land, for the export of Ukrainian grain to the world market must continue.”
“Now we all have a headache, we have to solve another problem created by Russia,” Kuleba said.
At the same time, according to him, if there is political will, a solution will be found. “Very intensive consultations at all levels” will be held in the coming hours and days to find a solution, the foreign minister added.
