The Navy denied NYT data on the destruction of the cruiser “Moskva”

The Ukrainian Navy denied the NYT’s information that Ukraine allegedly received the coordinates of the Russian cruiser “Moskva” from the United States.

This was reported by the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, on the air of a telethon, writes Ukrainska Pravda.

According to him, the Ukrainian Navy did not receive any coordinates regarding the location of the cruiser “Moskva” and the operation to destroy the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet was fully planned and carried out exclusively by the Navy.

“Of course, we coordinated the fire attack with the higher leadership in accordance with the subordination structure, having received the appropriate permission. And this, of course, is the Ukrainian leadership. And we carried out this strike. Therefore, the information regarding coordination and provision of accurate information and location does not correspond to reality, as does the information regarding the need to coordinate it,” Pletenchuk emphasized.

Thus, on March 30, The New York Times wrote about the negative reaction of the United States after Ukraine hit the missile cruiser Moskva on April 14, 2022.

The article stated that in April 2022, American and Ukrainian naval officers discovered “something unexpected” on radar, and US representatives informed the Ukrainians that it was the cruiser Moskva.

The publication also claims that after the hit of the cruiser, “Americans were angry because the Ukrainians did not warn about it; surprised that Ukraine had missiles capable of reaching the ship; and panicked because the Biden administration had no intention of allowing the Ukrainians to attack such a powerful symbol of Russian power.”

As a reminder, the cruiser Moskva sank on April 14, 2022. This happened as a result of being hit by Ukrainian Neptune missiles on April 13.
