The Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a sea mine from the Second World War on one of the shipping channels of the Black Sea.

The other day, a 1908/1939-type sea anchor galvanic mine was identified in one of the shipping channels in the northwestern part of the Black Sea, the Navy of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported.

According to experts, this dangerous find could have been on the seabed since the Second World War or appeared recently, as a result of Russia’s use of outdated ammunition.

The forces of the diving group with the involvement of divers-demolitionists of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed the anchor mine by controlled detonation at the place of detection.

The Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reminded that in case of detection of suspicious or explosive objects, in no case should you approach them, touch them or try to move/dispose of them yourself. If you find such objects, inform the relevant services.
