The Navy of the Ukrainian Armed Forces told how the Russian Federation uses the Sea of Azov
Currently, Russia does not send warships to the Sea of Azov, but uses Azov ports to export looted grain and metal.
This was reported by the spokesman of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, Ukrinform writes. According to the speaker, in fact, the entire coast of the Sea of Azov is now occupied by Russia, and it even tried to make the region its internal waters at the legislative level.
“It has no legal force and grounds. There is also no military activity observed there, there are no fleet units there now. In addition, it is quite difficult to maneuver in the Sea of Azov – navigation there is not easy. There are no such depths as in Chornoy, the maximum is 15 meters, and, accordingly, this makes it easier for them to protect this water area,” said Pletenchuk.
The spokesman of the Navy also confirmed that the invaders continue to use the Mariupol port.
“They use it in violation of all international rules and requirements of international maritime law, and continue to take looted goods from the occupied territories through this port. They still export grain and metal and use it in their interests,” Pletenchuk said.
Previously, the USM reported that there were almost no large Russian ships left in the bays of the temporarily occupied Sevastopol—almost all combat units were assigned to Novorossiysk.
