The Odesa customs inspector was informed of the suspicion: the state had not received millions of hryvnias
State investigation bureau employees reported the suspicion to the Odesa customs inspector, due to whose actions the state budget did not receive millions of hryvnias from customs clearance of goods.
Before the full-scale invasion of the russian federation into Ukraine, tons of goods, including clothes, were brought from China in containers to the “Odesa-port” customs post.
“After the appropriate inspection, the products were moved to another customs post, where the goods were processed directly. The illegal scheme consisted in submitting a declaration with accompanying documents, in which the nomenclature of goods and their quantity and value were deliberately changed in favor of importers,” the press service of the DBR noted.
Bureau employees established that thanks to the “help” of the inspector, merchants saved the state more than a million hryvnias in taxes for customs clearance of each container.
Currently, other possible facts of abuse by customs officials are being checked. The inspector was notified of the suspicion of abuse of office, which caused grave consequences for state interests (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides up to 8 years of imprisonment.
