The operation of the maritime corridor affected the growth of GDP in Ukraine
The growth of GDP in January 2024 was influenced by the operation of the maritime corridor, as well as the lifting of the blocking of the Polish-Ukrainian border.
The Ministry of Economy estimated GDP growth in January at the level of 3.5% [±1%] compared to January 2023, according to the ministry’s website.
The Minister of Economy Yulia Svyridenko noted that the key factors supporting positive economic dynamics at the beginning of the year were the growing investment demand generated by the budget, as well as the availability of foreign markets for domestic manufacturers thanks to the expansion of logistics capabilities.
“In particular, the work of the Ukrainian maritime corridor made it possible to achieve record export volumes since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation and to continue to increase economic activity, primarily by producers of agricultural and metallurgical products, enterprises for the extraction of metal ores and the activity of railway transport,” Yuliya Svyridenko explained.
