The plant for oilseed processing in Chornomorsk resumes work

The plant for the processing of oilseeds in Chornomorsk is back to work — after a complete shutdown of production a year ago, at the beginning of a full-scale war.

“ADM Ukraine” company resumes operation of its SEZ in Chornomorsk. The refinery has been idle since February of last year, according to Bloomberg.

“ADM Ukraine” is a subsidiary of the international agro-industrial corporation Archer Daniels Midland Company, whose main activity is the production of sunflower oil and trade in grain crops. The company has 6 grain elevators in Ukraine, a grain terminal in Odesa port and an economic zone in Chornomorsk. The total capacity of the oil extraction plant is 200,000 tons per year.

With the beginning of the work of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, “ADM Ukraine” resumed the operation of its port terminal in Odesa. Thus, from July to December 2022, the company exported more than 1 million tons of agricultural product residues.

Before the full-scale invasion of russia, ADM Ukraine was one of the ten largest sunflower processors in Ukraine. In particular, in 2021, the company’s turnover was about UAH 38 billion, and the net profit was UAH 375 million.

Currently, there are 34 oil refineries in Odesa region. Due to the war, most of them either significantly reduced or completely stopped oil production. Currently, the leaders in oil processing in Ukraine are the companies “Alseeds Black Sea” (250,000 tons per year), “Delta Wilmar SNG” (150,000 tons per year) and “Izmail-Transbalkterminal” LLC (40,000 tons per year ).
