The Rada supported the bill on sanctions against the Russian “shadow fleet”

The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading a draft law on the application of sanctions to Russian vessels that illegally transport oil.
This was reported by People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak in Telegram. Legislative initiative No. 13020 was supported by 269 votes of people’s deputies.
As stated in the explanatory note, the current legislation of Ukraine allows for the imposition of sanctions on legal entities and individuals, but does not provide for the possibility of sanctioning vessels and aircraft.
The proposed amendments to the legislation will allow for the imposition of sanctions on specific vessels and aircraft that are involved in the Russian shadow transportation of oil and petroleum products, weapons and military personnel.
The Security Service of Ukraine and intelligence are proposed to be given the task of identifying and establishing the facts of the use of such vessels.
Earlier, USM reported that transshipment through the port of Indonesia allows the Russian Federation to circumvent sanctions.
