The Russian Federation blocked the Grain Agreement again

The Russian Federation recently blocked the registration of the incoming fleet to all ports of Ukraine.

The JCC announced the impossibility of drawing up an inspection plan for June 1. This is due to another groundless refusal of the Russian delegation to register the incoming fleet for participation in the Initiative, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported.

However, on May 30 and 31, Russia registered only 1 incoming vessel for inspection at Chornomorsk port without explanation. At the same time, other parties of the JCC confirmed 10 vessels for three ports to participate in the Grain Agreement.

Currently, 50 ships are waiting in line for inspection, on which 2.4 million tons of Ukrainian grain should be loaded. This is almost twice the amount exported in May. Some vessels wait more than 3 months for inspection by the JCC, which causes losses of more than 1 billion dollars.

“In this way, Russia once again found a way to limit the world’s food supply. Blocking the registration of the new incoming fleet, as well as the blocking of the largest port “Pivdennyi”, is a gross violation of the terms of the Grain Initiative, under which the aggressor country also signed,” the message says.

The Ukrainian delegation sent a letter to the JCC Secretariat with a demand to resume full-time work as part of 3 inspection teams and conduct 9 inspections per day, as required by JCC procedures.
