The Russians are turning the sea station into a shopping mall due to sanctions

Unused premises of the sea station in St. Petersburg will be used for offices and trade.

As a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, European countries introduced sanctions against the aggressor country. In particular, the cruise industry of the Russian Federation was affected.

Thus, in 2022, cruise operators suspended ship calls to the “Sea Facade” terminal in St. Petersburg. This is reported by rosZMI.

Because of this, the management of the terminal decided to sell the premises of the sea station to a new owner. Only one company participated in the competition.

The station building will now be renovated to address physical wear and tear, rezoned to increase rentable space, and ultimately repurpose the building.

After all the works, the site of the former naval station will be equipped with shopping areas, offices and public spaces. Previously, USM wrote that Russia had bunkered a ship with used oil from the “Vkusno i Tochka” fast food.
