The Russians need the Kinburn Spit to block the port of Mykolayiv — the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Russians use the Kinburn spit, in particular, to prevent Ukraine from using the Mykolaiv port.

From the spit, the Russians are inflicting fire damage on the southern parts of Mykolayiv region and Kherson region, Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said, «Армія.INFORM» reports.

The Russians also use the Kinburn spit for fire control of the Dnipro-Buzh estuary. This makes shipping from Mykolaiv and Kherson ports impossible, Pletenchuk noted.

According to him, currently six dozen vessels remain actually blocked in the Mykolaiv region.

Previously, USM reported that repair work will be carried out at the blocked port of Mykolaiv for UAH 18 million.
