The Russians replaced the weapons on the captured Ukrainian small artillery armored boats of project 58155 “Gyurza-M”.

The invaders installed 2M-3M installations on the armored boats, reports “Militarnyi” with reference to Russian sources.

The ship’s 30-mm combat modules KAU-30M were replaced by twin-barreled 25-mm naval installations 2M-3M.

Similar changes were made to the Akkerman and Vyshhorod boats, which Russia captured in Berdyansk during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The KAU-30M is a naval remotely controlled stabilized combat module designed to engage ships, coastal targets, manpower and helicopters.

The module is equipped with a ZTM-1 30-mm automatic cannon, an AG-17 or KBA-117 30-mm automatic grenade launcher, a KT-7.62 machine gun and two rounds of the Barrier ATGM.

The module also has television and thermal imaging cameras, which provide a target detection range of up to 10 km. Target recognition is possible at distances of up to 4 km when using a TV channel, up to 10 km when using thermal imaging, depending on the type of target.

Probably, the replacement of modern weapons with outdated Soviet installations is due to the impossibility of servicing some of the out-of-order nodes.

The Russians transported KAU-30M combat modules to the exhibition of trophy weapons.

Such “modernization” may indicate the readiness of the Russians to exploit captured Ukrainian armored boats.

The installation of 2M-3M guns entails not only a significant reduction in the effectiveness of detecting and destroying targets, but also affects the ship’s running characteristics due to its greater mass.
