The russians started using naval drones against Ukraine

Russian troops began using naval surface drones in the war against Ukraine. This poses a danger to civilian shipping in the Black Sea.

The other day, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi had a telephone conversation with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States, General Mark Milley.

“Informed my colleague about the results of the last massive missile attack by the enemy, emphasized the importance of air defense equipment and thanked him once again for their provision. He shared his concern about russia’s use of maritime surface drones, which poses a threat to civilian shipping in the Black Sea,” said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi in Telegram.

On February 10, a video appeared online showing an unknown surface object attacking a support bridge in the Odesa region. Analysts assumed that russian federation used naval drones for the first time during the entire war.

Presumably, the russian army decided to follow the example of Ukraine to create its own version of an attack drone for water attacks. Previously, there was no information that russia had such weapons.

The marine drone is filled with explosives with detonators that detonate when approaching the target. These drones are believed to be much cheaper than manned ships.

The russians can use such drones against Ukrainian facilities on the coast, as well as against merchant ships, in order to disrupt the “grain deal”.
