The Russians stole 8 million tons of grain in the occupied territories of Ukraine

In the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the Russians collected almost 8 million tons of grain this year.

According to NASA, in 2023, 6.4 million tons of wheat and almost 1.5 million tons of sunflower seeds were harvested in the occupied territories, Bloomberg reports.

It is difficult to estimate the exact amount of grain grown on temporarily occupied lands. Some crops are consumed in these same regions, while others are sent to the Russian Federation or mixed with Russian grain and sold on the world market.

Also, according to the NASA Harvest study, this year about 7% of agricultural land in Ukraine was abandoned. Mostly, we are talking about lands along the front line.
