Law enforcement officers detained an FSB agent in Odesa who was spying on air defense positions on the Black Sea coast. This was reported in the SBU press center.
The perpetrator acted under the guise of the head of a local company that employs sailors on fishing and commercial vessels. According to the instructions of the invaders, the agent went around the territory of the region and covertly recorded the places of possible deployment of the Defense Forces.
The enemy was most interested in the geolocations of air defense anti-aircraft missile systems and radar stations that defend the sea area and the coast of the southern region. Telecommunication facilities in Odesa region were also in the area of special attention.
In the case of receiving confirmed coordinates of the units of the Armed Forces, the invaders planned to carry out targeted missile and drone strikes on them.
Due to the prompt response of the SBU, the person involved was caught red-handed when he was conducting reconnaissance near a potential target.
During the searches, the person involved was found to have fake credentials of a representative of the “newspaper editorial office” and the local “water supply company”. It was also established that the agent regularly changed phones and SIM cards for the conspiracy of criminal activity.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the SBU investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). The perpetrator is in custody. He faces a life imprisonment.
