The SBU detained the owner of an agricultural holding that works in the interests of the Russian Federation
The owner of an agricultural holding, which supplies food products for farmers on the left bank of the Kherson region, was detained in Kyiv.
The founder of one of the largest agricultural holdings in Ukraine is suspected of financing the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, the SBU reports.
The figure was detained in his son’s apartment in Kyiv, where he was hiding and planning to flee to Russia.
According to the investigation, the company controlled by the suspect is located on the temporarily occupied left bank of the Kherson region and works in the interests of the Russian Federation. In particular, this company is one of the main suppliers of food products for the Russian troops located in the south of Ukraine.
“To this end, in May 2022, the businessman organized the “re-registration” of the agricultural company in the occupying “Department of the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation for the Kherson Region”. Since then, the company involved has been paying more than 100,000 Russian rubles as “taxes” to the budget of the local occupation administration of the Russian Federation every month, the SBU said.
In addition, the attacker’s agricultural company is one of the leading financial donors in the region of the Russian “support fund for military operation participants”, which was created by Putin’s decree in April 2023.
It is known that the businessman handed over to the invaders the warehouses of the production complex of the enterprise in the temporarily captured Kakhovskyi district. Logistic hangars were used by the occupiers to store their own weapons, ammunition and military equipment.
It should be noted that the SBU investigators informed the suspect of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (assistance to the aggressor state). He is currently in custody. The perpetrator faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
