The SBU sentenced the so-called director of the port of Berdyansk to 10 years in prison

The invading director of the Berdyansk sea trade port was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He helped Russia steal $30 million worth of Ukrainian grain.

Under his leadership, from June 2022, the Russian occupiers transported almost 150,000 tons of wheat for a total amount of more than $30 million to the Russian Federation from the captured seaport, the SBU notes. According to the investigation materials, the court sentenced him to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The attacker is the former head of the operational response department of the Berdyansk port, who after the occupation of the city went to cooperate with the aggressor. For this, Oleksandr Saulenko submitted his candidacy for the position of the so-called head of the captured object.

After his appointment, he began to carry out the instructions of the Kremlin regarding the transfer of all property of the Ukrainian port “to the balance sheet” of the local occupation administration. However, his main task was to assist the invaders in the mass export of Ukrainian grain from the occupied south of Ukraine to Russia.

Thus, the perpetrator involved sea vessels “Sormovsky-48” and “ZHIBEK ZHOLY” for the transportation of agricultural products. On the raids, they were accompanied by warships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation.

Due to the fact that the person involved is hiding in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region, the beginning of the term of serving the punishment will be counted from the day of his detention.
