The Ukrainian icebreaker has been overcoming the storm in the Atlantic Ocean for two days. The ship’s crew changed course.

“Noosfera” got into a storm midway between King George Island (Antarctica) and Cape Town (South Africa). This was reported in the National Antarctic Scientific Center.

The height of the waves reaches 6 meters, and the wind speed is 25 m/s.

“In such conditions, the Ukrainian scientific flagship has been moving for two days. The ship’s crew slightly changed course in order not to get into the epicenter of the storm,” the scientists said.

It should be noted that the third Antarctic season of “Noosfera”, which began in Cape Town on November 17, 2023, is now ending.

As previously reported by USM, the icebreaker “Noosfera” got into a storm in early April while transiting the Drake Passage.
