The second tanker from the sanctioned Arctic LNG-2 has arrived in China

The second LNG tanker from Russia’s Arctic LNG-2 project, which is under Western sanctions, has arrived at a Chinese port.
The Russian tanker Voskhod, carrying 150,000 cubic meters of gas, arrived at a terminal in the port of Tieshan, Guangxi province, Reuters reports.
The vessel loaded fuel at the Arctic LNG-2 plant in Gidan (northern Siberia) on July 19.
This is the second batch of LNG from this project to reach China: the first shipment arrived in the country in late August aboard the Arctic Mulan tanker. It was the first to be shipped directly to the end user after the launch of Arctic LNG-2 in December 2023.
The delivery coincided with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to China, where he met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and took part in a military parade.
The Arctic LNG-2 delivered eight cargoes of fuel last year, but most of them remained in Russian storage due to sales problems. In 2025, six known deliveries were directed east, including along the Northern Sea Route.
The first vessel to arrive at the Arctic LNG-2 this year was the “Iris”, which loaded a cargo of gas at the plant on June 26. This was the ninth cargo to leave the facility.
