The Shipping Administration is holding a Safety Month: checking the condition of ships

Since the beginning of May, inspectors of the Shipping Administration have been carrying out measures to increase the level of safety in sea and inland waterway transport.

The Shipping Administration reported this on Facebook.

The Safety Month, in particular, includes monitoring:

• compliance with safety requirements on vessels in seaports;

• compliance with the requirements of international treaties of Ukraine in the field of human life protection and prevention of pollution from vessels;

• serviceability of navigation equipment;

• validity of permits;

• state of compliance with local navigation rules for small vessels.

“Safety in water transport is a shared responsibility that should become a priority for all industry participants,” emphasized the acting head of the Shipping Administration Mykola Kravchuk.

It should be noted that the Safety Month measures are carried out with the involvement of seaport captains, the State Enterprise “Seaports Administration of Ukraine”, the State Enterprise “Register of Shipping of Ukraine”, the State Hydrography, as well as law enforcement agencies.
