The Shipping Administration will recover and digitize the seafarers’ documents
The Seamen’s Shipping Administration is digitizing the paper archives it received in a damaged state following the exposure of corruption schemes in graduation.
Later, the State Register of Documents will be created with the recovered documents, said the head of the Shipping Administration Yevgeny Ignatenko.
“It’s no secret to anyone how corrupt the seamen’s certification system used to be. My team and I are now doing everything we can to ensure that the new and transparent graduation system works for the benefit of the community. “Unfortunately, we did not manage to get information carriers about the sailors in electronic format, so there was nothing left but to use “grandfather’s” methods – to digitize everything we have in paper format,” said Ignatenko.
Currently, the Shipping Administration is creating its database of seafarers’ documents almost from scratch. Many employees are involved in this process, who collect and process a large array of documents – paper by paper, gradually and very carefully, the official noted.
“I call on the community to understand that by contacting “agents” you are helping “third parties” to continue replenishing your budget and getting rich. I hope that Ukrainian sailors will make the right choice for themselves and stop spending large sums of money for services that are provided by the state for free and of high quality,” Ignatenko summarized.
