The State Bureau of Investigation uncovered a cocaine supply scheme through the port of Odesa

The State Bureau of Investigation, together with the State Border Guard Service, has uncovered a transnational scheme for supplying cocaine from EU countries to Ukraine.

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, with the assistance of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, have stopped the activities of the channel, which, according to the investigation, ensured the delivery of drugs from the EU to the territory of Ukraine. This was reported in the press service of the department.

According to the Bureau, the organizer of the network had previously served a sentence in the USA for drug crimes. Upon returning to Ukraine, he resumed his activities and attracted accomplices in the EU. Citizens of Ukraine, Armenia, the Czech Republic and Germany were involved in organizing the trafficking.

The group acted in a conspiratorial manner. At first, drugs were imported in small batches via couriers, and in parallel, large-scale deliveries were prepared using sea logistics through Odesa.

The scheme involved the import of up to 2 kg of cocaine every week. On the black market, the value of one such batch exceeded $200 thousand.

In Odessa, SBI officers detained the organizer and informed him of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs in especially large quantities, by an organized group).

Investigative actions are still ongoing. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the involved and logistical links, including sea routes.

As USM wrote, earlier one of the largest consignments of cocaine in the history of Nigeria was seized in the port of Lagos.
