The state-owned enterprise repaired the Cherkasy steamship after two years of idleness

“Dunaysudoservice” repaired for “Ukrainian Danube Shipping” the motor ship “Cherkasy”, which stood for two and a half years.

In total, the shipping company has three such tugboats in operation, capable of pushing heavy caravans from 9 barges, the UDS press service reported. Currently, the steamship “Mykolaiv” is in operation, and “Cherkasy” and “Odesa” were waiting for the dock to renew documents for the class of the Register of Shipping of Ukraine.

JV “Dunaysudnoservice” won the tender for carrying out repair work on the ship “Cherkasy”. Specialists carried out disassembly/assembly of propeller shafts, disassembly of all 10 rudders, replacement of rubber-metal strips in deadwood and bracket bearings, repair of rudders, repair of balers, replacement of baler bearings in tiller compartment. They also replaced the metal of a small section of the outer bottom skin and painted the underwater part.

Currently, the ship has received a full set of documents from the Register of Shipping of Ukraine, the ship is in the queue for painting drinking tanks and obtaining a sanitary certificate, after which it will be ready to set sail.

Next, the 3,000-ton diesel locomotive “Odesa” is being prepared for work. After the return to work of both vessels, the UDS will be able to form three powerful caravans of 9 barges.
