The UDS commented on the mass dismissals of the fleet

The dismissal of the employees of the shipyard of PJSC “Ukrainian Danube Shipping” is related to the optimization of the personnel.

The press service of the UDS told about this in the USM comment.

The company explained that UDS was founded back in Soviet times, just like then, now the river fleet remains the basis of the enterprise.

“Also, this is the passenger fleet, the auxiliary fleet, and vessels that are already obsolete and not in use. At the same time, the ship cannot be without a crew, that is, people were assigned to the old fleet, which is now defunct. There are hundreds of such people,” the UDS notes.

Last year, employees of the company were offered to go on flights on other ships. Some of them were not motivated to change, some went abroad or reached retirement age.

“Half of the 276 employees resigned by agreement of the parties. It is important that everything happens within the limits of the current legislation, employees receive compensation, and they were also warned in advance. There were no violations of labor legislation during the optimization of personnel,” the company explained.

It should be noted that the UDS also offered employees work on a contract basis. Today, UDS captains work according to the 3 “C” system. The company emphasized that three shipmasters in a voyage is the maximum profitability in conditions of low freight rates.

As previously reported by USM, in July, 276 employees of the company’s crewmembers were dismissed from PJSC “Ukrainian Danube Shipping”.
