The Ukrainian Danube Shipping will work again on the Middle Danube
The Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company is returning part of its caravans to the Middle Danube.
In this section of the Danube, the shortage of the fleet is felt not less acutely, said Director Dmytro Moskalenko, Acting General Director of the enterprise.
“It is strategically important for the Ukrainian Danube Shipping to maintain a strong position along the entire length of the Danube. Our project for the construction of new barges and the modernization of traction involves the steamship developing various segments of cargo river transportation and working with a wide range of cargo. This is the only way to scale the its business,” Moskalenko noted.
The new lines will most likely work with the delivery of iron ore raw materials for metallurgical production in European countries. In the reverse direction, the caravans will deliver grain to Constanta, Moskalenko said.
“We see great interest from charterers and have already started the preparatory process. The departure of the first caravans up the Danube can take place as early as next month,” The Ukrainian Danube Shipping noted.
Dmytro Moskalenko also said that the water level in the Danube began to rise. As USM previously reported, since July 25, due to a sharp drop in water levels in the Danube, navigation in the middle and lower reaches of the river has been closed.
