The Ukrainian fleet has become several times stronger – the commander of the Navy of Ukraine Neizhpapa

During the year of the full-scale war with russia, the maritime potential of Ukraine increased several times.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russian federation, the ratio of Ukrainian and russian forces and assets on the sea borders was 1:12. Currently, the potential of the Ukrainian fleet compared to the russian one can be estimated at 1:4.

This was stated by the Commander of the Navy of Ukraine, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa in an interview with ArmiyaFM.

He said that at the time of the invasion, Ukraine did not have certain capabilities to confront the enemy at sea – that is why he was able to come close to our shores, prepare for a full-scale landing of marines and carry out attacks on Ukraine with Kalibr cruise missiles, which are still happening now.

“However, the presence of our reconnaissance and surface target detection system and coastal artillery stopped the enemy. The concentration of enemy forces and means at the beginning of the large-scale aggression was 1:12, and now we calculate our potential as 1:4,” said Neizhpapa.

According to him, it was possible to acquire the existing capabilities of the fleet’s strike forces, primarily thanks to the successful actions of the coastal missile forces, which were created already during the full-scale war. In addition, the arrival of the shore-based missile complex “Neptune” and help from partners who provided Ukraine with the anti-ship missile complex “Harpoon” helped.

The commander of the russian Navy added that Ukraine has also improved its surface lighting system. And, thanks to the conducted operations and strikes, it was possible to stop the dominance of the Russians in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.
