The Ukrainian Navy explained the significance of the Kinburn Spit for the Russians

The Ukrainian Navy explained the significance of the Kinburn Spit in the Mykolaiv region for the Russians.
The Kinburn Spit allows them to control the Dnipro-Buz lyman and block Ukraine’s access to the sea from the ports of Kherson and Mykolaiv, explained Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Ukrinform reports.
“For them, this is an important strategic point, because due to their ability to be there, they control the Dnipro-Buz estuary, that is, they actually block access to the sea from the ports of Kherson and Mykolaiv. In addition, the Kinburn Spit is used for shelling the southern parts of the Mykolaiv region. For them, this point is important in order to prevent the landing of troops from our side,” the speaker noted.
Pletenchuk noted that the Russians cannot allow the perimeter to be breached from this flank, but it is also quite difficult to be there – there are no settlements nearby and there is nowhere to hide.
“This is the territory from where they work out and sew themselves in from there,” the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy concluded.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Navy said that the Russians had actually destroyed the ecosystem in the Kinburn Spit water area.
