The Ukrainian Navy plans to purchase patrol ships produced in Denmark
Currently, the Ukrainian Navy is studying the possibility of purchasing five new multi-purpose patrol ships manufactured in Denmark.
This is stated in the Implementation Plan of the Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine, writes “Militarnyi”.
The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are tasked with working with the Danish Ministry of Defense on the possibility of building four multifunctional MRPV patrol ships for the Ukrainian Navy.
In addition, there is an intention to purchase another ship of the same type with search and rescue capabilities for the Maritime Search and Rescue Service of the Ministry of Infrastructure.
It is known that the command of the Ukrainian Navy expects to agree on the conclusion of a contract during 2024-2026. The specific type of ships in which the Ukrainian Navy is interested is not named. However, back in 2021, the Ukrainian government and the command of the Ukrainian Navy held a number of meetings with representatives of the Danish government regarding the joint construction of Knud Rasmussen-class patrol ships.
As a reminder, Denmark and Ukraine, within the framework of a security agreement, have consolidated support for the development of Ukraine’s naval fleet.
