The Ukrainian Navy told how martyrs are shot down from boats

The boats of the Ukrainian Navy’s river flotilla take an active part in air defense. Destroying one target sometimes requires up to 60 bullets.

During air attacks by Russian Shahed kamikaze drones, the river flotilla of the Ukrainian Navy performs air defense tasks, actively using boats transferred to the United States. This is stated in the Army TV story.

On average, about 60 rounds may be required to destroy one Russian drone. These are M240 machine guns of 7.62 mm caliber and M2 Browning of 12.7 mm caliber. In some missions, Mk.19 automatic grenade launchers of 40 mm caliber are also used.

According to the military, hitting a target from a boat is much more difficult than from land. The commander of the boat with the call sign “Dudka” explained that the instability of the platform makes aiming difficult, especially in rough water.

“They used to follow the riverbed, but now they change the route, avoiding the expected sections. The drone can approach a certain point, and then sharply change direction — to the right or left,” explained the commander of the Sea Ark Dauntless type boat, Oleksandr.

Recall that the first river division was formed on the Dnieper back in 2022. At first, its main task was to support ground operations in riverine areas. Today, it also participates in repelling air attacks.

As USM reported, a secret naval drone “Katran” was recently presented in Ukraine.
