The Ukrainian orchestra will perform at a shipyard in Poland

The “Freedom & Solidarity” concert performed by the Ukrainian orchestra will take place at the Polish shipyard.

On July 23, the “Freedom & Solidarity” concert performed by the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra will be held in the G-08 hall of the CRIST shipyard in Gdynia, reports Gospodarka Morska.

This is one of the side events of the Baltic Opera Festival. The concert, organized at the industrial shipyard, is intended to be a manifestation of solidarity with the Ukrainian people during the Russian aggression.

Preparations for the event at CRIST are already underway. The task is not easy, because the shipyard is constantly working and is not a standard location for such events. The organization of the concert requires, among other things, significant changes in the work system of the shipyard itself. The organizers emphasize the commitment and openness of the owners, management and employees of the plant in helping to organize the concert.

The idea of inviting musicians to perform in such an unusual place was proposed by Tomasz Konieczny, a Polish opera singer and the initiator of the Baltic Opera Festival. Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra and Keri-Lynn Wilson will be among the stars of the event this year.

Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra (UFO) was created in April 2022 at the initiative of Canadian conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson with the support of Peter Gelb, director of the Metropolitan Opera in New York and Waldemar Dombrowski, director of the Bolshoi Theater – National Opera in Warsaw. The orchestra received the patronage of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. UFO consists of Ukrainian refugees and Ukrainian members of other European orchestras.

In particular, the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra will perform “Ode to Joy” – the anthem of the European Union – in the Ukrainian language at the concert.
