The UN and the EU will conduct an assessment of the ports of Odesa and Reni: details
UNODC and UNOPS experts will assess the capacity at the border in the ports of Odesa and Reni.
Assessment of border crossing points will be conducted in Odesa and Reni ports, reports the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
The mission of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Project Services (UNOPS) was discussed at a meeting on 17 July.
“The purpose of the assessment is to identify the priority needs for the reconstruction and expansion of the infrastructure of the Odesa and Reni ports. This is necessary in order to increase the control capacity of passenger flows and cargo, to improve the capabilities of the border and customs departments of Ukraine to detect cross-border crimes,” the USPA noted.
Evaluation of checkpoints in the ports of Ukraine will be carried out by experts of law enforcement agencies of the European Union countries. This will make it possible to take into account EU standards and practices during the implementation of projects aimed at increasing the control capacity of passenger flows and cargo.
