The unique WIM was launched on the bridge across the Khadzhibey Liman

A unique WIM (weigh in motion) — a complex for weighing in motion — was launched on the bridge over the Khadzhibey liman.

The launched WIM has no analogues in Ukraine both due to its location and technical characteristics, the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine reported.

During the week, the weighing system worked in test mode, after which it was fully put into operation.

“The main focus of the Ministry now is to restore what was destroyed by the war and preserve what has already been built. That is why we are introducing tools to prevent violations of weight standards,” commented Serhiy Derkach, Deputy Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.

Today, there are 53 such sites in Ukraine, of which 44 are subject to fines. Some of them do not work due to damage caused by hostilities or being located in areas of temporary occupation. Several more such systems will be put into operation in the near future.

Over 16,000 overloads worth UAH 331 million were recorded during the entire period of operation of the weighing platforms. Depending on the share of overloading, the fine can range from 8.5 thousand to  UAH 51 thousand.

The bridge across the Khadzhibey liman on the Kyiv-Odesa highway is the “gateway” to the Odesa region. The operation of the weighing system in motion in such a place helps not only to monitor compliance with weight standards, but also provides an opportunity to analyze the traffic of the region.
