The United States and South Korea will oppose the supply of North Korean weapons to Russia

The heads of the defense departments of South Korea and the United States agreed to strictly fight the supply of weapons to North Korea to Russia.

South Korean Defense Minister Shin Won-sik and his US counterpart Lloyd Austin agreed to “react decisively” to Russia’s arms transfer from North Korea. This is reported by Yonhap News Agency.

The day before, Shin said that since July 2023, North Korea has sent about 6,700 containers with millions of ammunition to Russia for the war against Ukraine.

The United States and its partners have condemned the alleged arms deal between Pyongyang and Moscow as a violation of UN Security Council resolutions that prohibit countries from trading arms or other military equipment with North Korea.

The defense ministers also condemned North Korea’s recent series of missile tests and pledged to maintain robust defense capabilities to deter Pyongyang’s provocations.

USM recently wrote that 50 Russian individuals and legal entities were subject to US sanctions. Among them are companies that imported weapons from the DPRK.
